Jonny Cool is the stage name of Jonathan Sanders. A Portland born artist, who's parents Jimmi Sanders and Stella Starlight, as well as Uncle Johnny Sanders, were staples in the golden era of Portland's soul and jazz scene's. His father Jimmi and Uncle Johnny each were decorated keyboard players playing with BB King, Styx, and Miles Davis. Jonny Cool claimed his first major label production credits with Tyus on Waner Bros. Records in 2016. He was no stranger to the majors when the time was right, having past creative experiences with industry giants John Legend and Rakim, that unfortunately did not result in placements. Jonny kept going creatively directing a full live band on a West Coast Tour, including performances at Pickathon Festival opening for Tyus, and Crystal Ballroom opening for Digable Planets. 2018 Jonny Cool became the music director for Portland Fashion Week, also in 2021 photos of Jonny Cool by Jason Hill were featured in the Portland Art Museum. In, 2022 Grammy winning/multi-platinum artist Ella Mai, released a song "DFMU", produced by DJ Mustard (Travis Scott, Roddy Rich, Nick Jonas) the song includes writing credits by Jonathan Sanders, as well as Tyus Strickland and Daemon Landrum. After hovering in the top ten for the past month, this week in June 2022 the song "DMFU" became the #1 R&B single at Billboard AND Radio!!!

 

With the ability to create a wide range of sounds and styles, Jonny is considered amongst his peers to be a satellite dish to new vibrations and waves of art. With over 500k music streams from 72 different countries, Jonny has music for all walks of life. Landing placements with Nike, Wilson Sport and numerous others. Producing since 2006 Jonny has vast experience working on all kinds of different projects from documentaries such as “Arresting Power” to independent children’s cartoons. Always welcoming the challenge to compose something new.

In 2018 Jonny released his Beat Tape collection Fall Into Winter Spring Into Summer comprised of 48 beautifully pieced together instrumentals focused on giving the texture of the different seasons. Currently Jonny is working on several new project so look forward to some new vibes.
